We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) and Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) with the launch of the Risk Management and Insurance Club. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our shared commitment to empowering the next generation of industry leaders.
The Risk Management and Insurance Club at GZU is a testament to our dedication to equipping students with vital industry-relevant skills. Through this initiative, students will have access to a dynamic platform designed to deepen their understanding of risk management and insurance practices while fostering innovation and excellence.
The official launch of the club took place at GZU’s Mashava campus, Chemberi Hall, on the 25th of April 2024. Dr. Clainos Chidoko, represented by Dr. Munyaradzi Duve, emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in ensuring that education, research, and community service efforts are aligned with market demands.
“IIZ is committed to enhancing efficiency and business practices among our members and trainees,” said Mr. Davison Choeni, General Manager of IIZ. “We are delighted to nominate Rufaro Machemedze and Sheunesu Chinyakata from the club to attend a three-day winter school in Nyanga. This opportunity reflects our belief in nurturing leadership and providing practical learning experiences.”
The objectives of the Risk Management and Insurance Club include education, skill development, networking, and career opportunities. “Joining the club not only enhances your knowledge but also provides a competitive advantage in the industry,” remarked club president Sheunesu Chinyakata.
Dr. Hlupeko Dube, the club’s patron and chairperson of the Economics and Finance Department at GZU, highlighted the club’s growth potential. “With 33 members already, we anticipate a rise in numbers as we continue to offer valuable certificates of proficiency to our members.”
